Give Lube Oral Pleasure Gels.

Recently one of my favourite lubrication companies, Give Lube – makers of the fantastic Premium Aqua Gel and Silicone+, sent me a couple of samples of their all new Oral Pleasure Gels, and you can find out what I thought of them after the jump!

The Oral Pleasure Gels are a new concept from Give Lube, designed to add a little extra flavour to oral sex, be it with a male or female partner. It’s the sort of thing you can use just for a bit of fun, or even to disguise your partner’s natural taste if you’re not so keen on it.

The Gels are available in two different flavours, Raspberry Kiss and Cheeky Cherry, and come in nice big 100ml bottles with tasteful packaging.
I don’t have a great deal of experience with flavoured lube, aside from the odd sachet I’ve picked up here and there, but I was honestly blown away by how the Oral Pleasure Gel tastes. It doesn’t taste anything like how you might imagine a flavoured lube to; there’s nothing artificial about it nor any strange undertones or aftertaste. It just tastes like a really high quality fruit syrup that you might pick up to pour over your ice cream in the summer. It has this deep sweet flavour to it that’s very prominent, rather than just an after thought, and it’s accompanied by this delightful aroma that emanates from the bottle as soon as you pop the cap, giving you a treat for all your senses. I never thought I’d describe a lube as being “moreish” but honestly it is, and that can really only mean good things for the person whose bodyparts you’re slathering it over, after all no one ever asked for less time to be spent performing oral sex on them.
Of the two flavours the Raspberry Kiss is my favourite, but that’s simply because raspberry is my favourite fruit flavour in general, and the Pleasure Gel replicates that unmistakably. The Cheeky Cherry is the slightly less sweet of the two, and has that familiar cherry tang to it, rather reminding me of the cherry sweets you get in packs of Haribo.
The gels are moderately thick, allowing you to give your partner a good coating with it, rather than it being too runny and dripping down the shaft and congregating in the public hair, so it’s going to stay in the places you most want to suck and lick it of off. In terms of it being a lube it actually functions really well in that regard too, which is perfect if you want to give your mouth a little rest and stimulate your partner by hand for a while. It feels really smooth and slippery and is quite long-lasting, provided you don’t get too enthusiastic during the oral stage and devour it all. The only time it starts to get sticky is if you leave it on the skin for too long and it begins to dry, but realistically I can’t see that happening because it tastes too good to waste any.
In keeping with Give Lube’s philosophy of creating high quality safe products the Oral Pleasure Gels are paraben-free, dermatologically tested, CE marked, and of a medical quality. They’re as natural as possible and contain no superfluous ingredients. One thing they do contain is glycerin, but this is not the same as sugar, so it’s perfectly safe to use with female anatomy without any risk of sugar-induced infections. Personally it’s not something that I’d use primarily for penetrative sex, just because it seems like a waste to use something flavoured where you can’t taste it, and because of that slight stickiness that develops in the later stages. If you’re going straight from oral to penetration then there’s no need to wash it off, and you can just top up with some Premium Aqua Gel or Silicone+, of course if you’re in a pinch and you’ve run out of both of those then the Pleasure Gel is a fine alternative.
I always like to mention that Give Lube is a local British company, based in Bristol. Personally I’m very into localism, and I try to support companies as close to home as much as possible, and with such a fantastic range of products as Give Lube you really can feel good about doing so. So many of our sex toys and lubricants originate in the United States, so it’s nice to get behind people looking to pioneer something in the U.K.
Overall I have to say that I’m a big fan of these new Oral Pleasure Gels, and if I had to recommend one flavoured lube to someone then this would be my choice. I honestly can’t wait to see what the guys from Give Lube come up with next, because so far everything they do seems to be a winner. I have to thank them for sending me the free samples too, even though I took longer to review them than I would have liked.
You can buy the Oral Pleasure Gels from SexToys.co.uk in both Raspberry Kiss and Cheeky Cherry.

Give Lube Silicone+

A few months ago I reviewed Give Lube’s Premium Aqua Gel, and it instantly became one of my favourite lubricants. Give Lube have finally released their long awaited silicone lube, the Silicone+, and once again they  kindly sent me a couple of bottles to review.

Give Lube Silicone+ is a dermatalogically tested, CE marked, medical lubricant made from a blend of three silicones: Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, and Cyclomethicone. As well as being colourless, odourless and unscented, it’s free from parabens, glycerin, and oil, and suitable for all types of sexual activity. Unlike the Premium Aqua Gel it contains no aloe vera, panthenol, or in fact any other ingredients beyond the three silicones.

The Silicone+
is available in two sizes, the mini (30ml), and the regular (100ml), and comes in identical bottles to the Premium Aqua Gel.

The lube has a fairly thin runny consistency, the same as Gun Oil, and isn’t thick or gel-like in the way that some other silicone lubes are. It spreads easily and provides a good coverage, but it does have a tendency to drip if you’re not careful. Rubbing a drop of it between my thumb and forefinger revealed how lovely and slippery it really is, much more so than any water-based lubed I’ve encountered.

I’m not one who typically uses lube for masturbation, but the Silicone+ did make for a nice change of pace. Everything was more than adequately lubricated and I felt as though I could have kept going almost indefinitely without needing to apply more. Personally I preferred the feeling of Premium Aqua Gel for masturbation as it felt a little more natural compared to the slightly greasy feeling of the Silicone+, but both were enjoyable and have their own merits.

The Silicone+ never really dries out in the same way as water-based lubes do, but the more you rub it into the skin the more it spreads out, until you’re left with a very thin coating all over which retains its slippery feeling. The only way to remove this is to wash it off with soap and water, at which point it rinses away incredibly easily. Unlike a water-based lube there’s really no way to reactivate a silicone lube, so if you do find that things aren’t moving as freely as they were before then the only solution is to add more from the bottle, but the lube lasts so long that at most you’ll need only a couple of applications during a marathon session.

As it’s a silicone-based lubricant it’s not recommended that you use it with Fleshjacks or silicone sex toys, but you can perform a patch test on the underside of your silicone toys to assess the compatibility. It’s perfectly safe to use with glass and metal toys though, and with latex condoms.

Testing the lube with insertable toys, I discovered that I only needed to use a couple of drops. I experimented with my Metal Worx Teazer butt plug, and with a little squirt of lube spread across the toy, and some on the body, it slipped in like a charm. There was no friction or dragging as it was inserted, and once the lube was inside the body it felt completely fine. The lube adhered to the surface of the metal toy very nicely and created a good coating. Interestingly as the metal plug heated up to my body temperature so did the lube, but thankfully as it was silicone it didn’t evaporate, and in fact felt even more slippery when warm.

One area where the Silicone+ clearly beats the Premium Aqua Gel is in taste, as it has none. There’s no more bitterness to worry about here if you’re going to be using it during oral.

Interestingly much like the Premium Aqua Gel the Silicone+ underwent a reformulation which delayed its introduction to the market. Originally the Silicone+ was intended to also contain aloe vera, but it was removed as it interfered with the gliding properties of the lube. While I am impressed that they went ahead and took that decision in order to make their product better, I’m also a little surprised, because Gun Oil lists amongst its ingredients aloe extract and vitamin E, and the two products feel very similar in their properties.

As I said in my previous review, one thing I really love about Give Lube is that it’s a local British company, based in Bristol. Personally I’m very into localism, and I try to support companies as close to home as much as possible. So many of our sex toys and lubricants originate in the United States – you only have to look at how proudly Doc Johnson, for example, stamps “Made in America” on every box – so it’s nice to get behind people looking to pioneer something in the U.K.

Overall I am quite impressed with the Silicone+ but maybe not as much as the Premium Aqua Gel. It’s a very good silicone lubricant, but it lacks that something special that the Premium Aqua Gel had, possibly through the absence of those ‘caring’ ingredients. I can still happily recommend the Silicone+ though, it’s a fine high quality product, and quite reasonably priced.

Give Lube Silicone+ is available from SexToys.co.uk in the Regular size, and in the Mini.

Give Lube Premium Aqua Gel

The very generous people at Give Lube kindly sent me a couple of bottles of their product to review, so many thanks to them, and without further ado…

Read the review after the jump!

Give Lube comes in two varieties, the water-based Premium Aqua Gel, and also a silicone-based Silicone+. Both are dermatalogically tested, CE marked medical lubricants. As well as being colourless, odourless and unscented, they’re free from parabens, glycerin and oil, are suitable for all types of sexual activity, and contain added aloe vera to nourish the skin.
The Premium Aqua Gel is available in three sizes: mini, midi, and maxi, which are 30ml, 100ml, and 250ml respectively. All come in lovely discreet bottles, which can easily be slipped into a bedside drawer, bathroom cabinet, or luggage if you want to take it travelling. As it is a water-based lubricant it’s completely safe to use with all your favourite sex toys, and condoms.
The lube has a lovely consistency, it’s not too thin and watery like the Gun Oil H2O, but it’s not thick like a gel either. It spreads easily and provides a good coverage, but without dripping everywhere and making a mess. Rubbing a drop of it between my thumb and forefinger, I was actually surprised that I was feeling a water-based lube, because it just felt so smooth and slick. The near-frictionless gliding action I experienced made me really curious about how it would feel on the genitalia, and I ended up testing it earlier than I intended

I’m not one who typically uses lube for masturbation, but the Give Lube actually felt great when applied to the penis, and I found that I only needed a small amount to achieve that effect. There was something incredibly natural about it; there wasn’t an awareness of being covered in lube, everything just functioned how it should, but enhanced. In the past I’ve found that certain lubes can slightly decrease the sensation from masturbation, but that wasn’t the case here at all. It also seemed very gentle to the skin, and almost soothing, which must have something to do with the pH-optimised formula and added panthenol.

For the most part the Give Lube was not sticky or gummy at all; it was only for a couple of seconds before it dried completely that I noticed a slight tackiness to the touch, which is actually very impressive. Once it had dried it left behind no residue, but as soon as I went to wash my hands I felt it reactivating with the water, so I had to put this to the test. It pleased me to find that if you add a little water to the lube at any point during use, it will return to its original state, so you can extend your use of it without having to use more product. It’s also very easy to clean up, and rinses away with running water.

Without adding any additional water to reactivate it, I found that the duration time for the lube during masturbation was comparable with other high-quality brands. When used with a Fleshjack I was also impressed by the lube. It provided a comfortable gliding action between the Superskin sleeve and the penis, and again I didn’t need to use that much. Normally with a thicker generic lube I’d need to put a couple of pumps into the cavity, but I found just a small drizzling of the Give Lube through the orifice was sufficient. The lube lasted a long time within the central canal of toy, and I didn’t need to apply any more there during my time using the toy. I think this is down to the lube being relativity thin, which is something I like when using a Fleshjack. Personally, next time I might be tempted to add a couple of drops of water into the Fleshjack along with the lube, just to dilute it slightly and create more of that wet feeling that I enjoy. The only area where I found that the lube did start to dry, was along the lower third of the shaft of the penis, which spent more time outside of the toy and exposed to the air. The tight anal opening of the Fleshjack did start to tug here, and I had to add a dab more lube, but if I had thought to bring some water with me I could have just added a drop to the area to reactivate the lube there. I’m more than satisfied that Give Lube and a FleshJack are a good combination, and will be using them together again.

Testing the lube with insertable toys, I found I actually needed to use less lube than I expected. I experimented with my Tantus Tulip butt plug, and with a little squirt of lube spread across the toy, and some on the body, it slipped in like a charm. There was no friction or dragging as it was inserted, and once the lube was inside the body it felt completely fine – again its presence wasn’t really noticeable as being anything foreign. The lube didn’t adhere to the surface of the silicone toy as well as I might have hoped, and left a patchy application, like water on the bonnet of a freshly washed car, but it wasn’t really a problem for a toy of that size. I won’t criticise it for this, as whenever you’re intending to use anything larger than that, you’re always going to want a thicker specialist anal lube.

The only negative I can point to is that the lube does taste slightly bitter, due to the aloe vera, which is something to bear in mind if  you’re going to be using it for oral sex. I stress the word “slightly” because it’s not that strong, and it’s only noticeable initially. Ultimately it will come down to a matter of taste; personally I enjoy Campari and take my Manhattans on the dry side, so the taste doesn’t bother me, others might not react to it at all, and for a few with a very sweet tooth it may be bothersome.

One thing I really love about Give Lube, is that it’s a local British company, based in Bristol. Personally I’m very into localism, and I try to support companies as close to home as much as possible, and with a fantastic product like Give Lube you really can feel good about doing so. So many of our sex toys and lubricants originate in the United States – you only have to look at how proudly Doc Johnson, for example, stamps “Made in America” on every box – so it’s nice to get behind people looking to pioneer something in the U.K.
Another thing that really impressed me was something they told me before sending my free sample. Following consumer feedback about the consistency of the lube, they made adjustments to the formula to increase the thickness. I find it very reassuring when a company is actually listening to its customers, and striving to satisfy them with its product.

Overall I’m incredibly impressed with the Premium Aqua Gel, and I can fully recommend it as my new favourite lubricant.

So thanks again to Give Lube for the samples, and check out my review of the Silicone+ right here.
