Fleshlight Freaks Cyborg Dildo

So my second Halloween-themed review this month is going to be the Fleshlight Freaks Cyborg dildo. Fleshlight originally released five different masturbators and matching dildos masturbators in the “Freaks” range back in 2011, especially for Halloween, and they must have been popular because they’re still on sale on the Fleshlight website two years later.

If I had my way then I’d own them all, because they look like wonderful ghoulish works of art, but I decided that if I was going to buy one then it needed to be not so creepy that I’d have trouble putting it inside me, and also of a design that looked physically pleasing. Being a texture fan, and also a bit of a science-fiction aficionado, I settled on the lovely Cyborg, and now it’s time to review it!

Anyone who follows my blog will know that I’m a big fan of the Fleshjack dildos, and I’ve already written reviews raving about six of them, but it seems a little strange this time to be talking about one which wasn’t actually modelled on a person.
The design of the Cyborg dildo is spectacular to look at, but also not quite in keeping with its name. At the risk of being pedantic a cyborg is a cybernetic organism, something which is half man and half machine, and I really don’t see a lot of the man component of this design. It’s definitely something which has been heavily inspired by robotics, so perhaps naming it the android would have been more fitting. If you examine the balls then you can see all sorts of engraved circuitry, and up the length of the shaft is nodes and nodules, and all manner of ridges which look as though they could easily have come from an alien race straight out of your favourite science-fiction film. It’s a testament to Fleshlight really that even when they’re designing a dildo from scratch they pack an incredible level of detail into it. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had someone there working on the designs who used to add greebles onto fictional spaceships.
The dildo measures in at 8″ from base to tip, and of that you get 6″ which are insertable. The average girth measurement of the shaft is 5 1/2″ around, +/- 1/8″ depending on how pronounced the texture is in a given section. Overall I’d say it’s not a terrifying size, though the texture and detail tricks your eye into thinking that it’s bigger than it actually is. The base of the dildo is actually pretty hefty, measuring 3 1/4″ x 4″ x 2″, so in that instance you can believe what you see, and it gives the Cyborg a nice low centre of gravity helping it to stand upright almost anywhere.

Like all the Fleshjack dildos the Freaks are made from 100% platinum silicone, and they come in some incredibly vivid colours, especially the Cyborg’s stunning purple. Silicone is one of my favourite sex toy materials because most importantly it’s safe for the body, and is a medical / food grade material. It also happens to be entirely odourless and easy to clean and maintain. The silicone in the Fleshlight Freaks range seems to be a little bit firmer than the silicone used in the Fleshjack Boys dildos, and is interesting to note, but can possibly be explained by the fact that these are not intended to feel as realistic given that they’re not emulating a real person’s body part. While I would compare the firmness of the Fleshjack Boys dildos to the Tantus Pack ‘n’ Play, the Freaks dildos are more akin to any of your regular Tantus products. There’s a decent amount of give in the surface of the Cyborg, and you can bend the shaft around without too much effort, but it doesn’t have that plush quality of the Fleshjack Boys dildos. The other real difference to note is the finish, as the Cyborg has a lovely smooth shiny surface to it, whereas the Fleshjack boys have a very fine velvety texture caused by the grain of the skin being picked up by the silicone.

Like all Fleshlight products the build quality of the Cyborg dildo is exceptional. There isn’t a mould line in sight, which is all the more surprising given the complexity of the design, nor are there any pits, fissures, or other visible defects anywhere to be seen. One thing which does disappoint me somewhat though is that my dildo is seriously lopsided. I’m not sure if it’s a case of all of them being like this, or somehow mine just slipping through the cracks of quality control, but it has a major Leaning Tower of Pisa thing going on. If you look at the 360 degree product view they have on their website then the whole thing is pretty straight and upright, so being the perfectionist that I am I’m a little disappointed that mine isn’t like that. Otherwise I can’t really fault the manufacturing.

When it comes to using the Cyborg dildo I’m probably going to suggest a warm up toy, and not because of its size. The tip of the dildo is actually quite modest and very gently tapered, but it starts with the texture almost immediately, and it just so happens that the texture at the tip is some of the most prominent on the whole toy. Inserting something with that much texture is going to be far easier and more comfortable if you’re already fairly loosened up. As you start to insert the dildo it really does feel quite intense, and the ridges catch a little on the soft fleshy tissue just within the anus, so using plenty of lube is a must here. The tip of the dildo is designed to look like the head of a penis, but you don’t really get a “pop” as you pass over the final ridge, more a pleasant sense of things calming down somewhat. Once the dildo is inside you can appreciate the comfort factor of the material because it does have the right amount of flex to move around inside the body, and the give in the surface of the silicone is enough to be gentle with the sphincter – you can only imagine how much more you’d feel that texture if the dildo was rock solid. Thrusting with the dildo is an experience in itself and there’s a lot going on at once. Every half inch of movement in any direction has texture stimulating the sphincter and it can be quite a lot to process. I wouldn’t say that thrusting with the dildo was an overly uncomfortable experience, but for me it wasn’t especially pleasurable either, and at this point we’re talking about long slow thrusts. I did attempt to get up to some thrusting speed with the dildo but that was where I had to stop as it felt as though something was grinding against my insides. There are options on how you can choose to use the dildo and position it, whether it be frontwards or backwards, or if you decide to squat over it or manipulate it by hand, but it doesn’t really change much because there’s 360 degrees of texture on every side of the shaft, so if you’re trying to escape it then you’re out of luck. In terms of prostate stimulation I didn’t really notice any, and I did focus my mind on this for fear that other sensations might be drowning it out, but it just wasn’t there. The Cyborg is one of those toys which delivers its sensation primarily into the sphincter through its use of texture, it’s just a question really whether or not you can handle that texture, and I for one was slightly overwhelmed, albeit to my surprise.

The packaging for the Fleshlight Freaks dildos is very similar to the current packaging for the Fleshjack Boys dildos, in fact it was the precursor to it as back in 2011 most Fleshlight products were still coming in lovely metal tins. The only real difference in packaging between the two is that the Freaks have no flap / door on the front, so instead you just get a clear plastic window through the cardboard box which shows you the contents inside. The box is fairly simple and has some pictures and writing on the sides letting you know which product it is, as well as a photo on the back of the full range should you decide to collect them all. The flaps are stuck down with security seals which tear when you peel them off, and inside you’ll find the dildo held cocooned within a plastic insert tray. On the whole it’s nice packaging, pretty tasteful and discreet; I kept mine to store the toy in but I don’t expect that most people would because it’s not quite that special.
I’m going to briefly talk about cleaning the toy, and really that’s just because of the ridges. As you should know you don’t need to take any special precautions with silicone and it can be bleached, boiled, chucked in the dishwasher and sterilised, but because it does have these deep and pronounced ridges you want to make sure that no dried lube or bodily matter gets caught in them. Give them a scrub with a soft toothbrush if need be just to get anything out.
Summing up the Cyborg is a tricky task because I look at it and I love the whole design and concept, and the fact that it’s well-made (bar the lean), from quality materials, but the texture was just a little too much for anal use. I’m certainly happy that I own it, and I still yearn for the others, but it’s just not that practical for me to use – even as texture lover – and I fear that it’ll spend most of its life now back in its box. If you want really hardcore texture then this very well could be the perfect dildo for you, but if you’re not sure then don’t be seduced by its incredible design, because you could well end up just a novelty Halloween ornament.
