Tantus Tulip

The Tantus Tulip is one my favourite butt plugs in my collection. It was sent to me as my first item to review for the lovely people at Sextoys.co.uk

The packaging for Tantus products is very tasteful and minimalist; the toy comes inside a clear plastic box with some information printed on the outside, allowing you to clearly see the item within. My first impression upon removing it from the box and inspecting it was that it had this wonderful metallic violet colour, which they call “purple haze.”
The Tulip is made from Tantus’s own “Ultra Premium Silicone” formula, which feels quite similar to the “Premium Silicone” used in the Doc Johnson toys I own. The plug is 100% platinum silicone all the way through, and moulded in one solid piece with no seams, leaving a completely smooth shiny surface. The flexibility of the material eliminates any discomfort which you might expect from trying to insert it, but it’s also firm enough to push through any resistance in the muscle with ease, and without losing its shape. Like other products made from this material, it does have a slight sweet artificial-fruity smell to it, which isn’t unpleasant at all.
The toy is 1 5/8″ in diameter at the widest point on the bulb, and the unique tulip-shape seems to neither aid nor hinder insertion, but it does feel incredibly comfortable when inside. Other butt plugs I’ve tried tend to become progressively more uncomfortable over time, but I could wear this one happily for hours. The Tulip has a good length neck on it, measuring around 1 1/4″ from the bulb to the base. The base itself features an hourglass-shape, which comfortably nestles between the buttocks, making it even more suitable if you’re planning to spend some time walking around while wearing it. The taper on the reverse is somewhat blunt, so you wouldn’t want to attempt to remove it too sharply, but with some gentle coaxing it’s not a problem to take out.
The price of the Tulip is under $20, which is great value for money for such a high quality material, and well-made product.
I’d recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for either their first butt plug, or just another one to add to their collection.
You can buy the Tulip directly from Tantus for a limited time.

Fleshjack Ice Bottom Original

As someone who had been happily masturbating by hand for well over a decade I was always slightly dubious about the need for extra equipment. With the Fleshjack being an American product I had entertained the possibility that it had been developed in part to help compensate for the fact that the majority of them are circumcised, and thus it would be largely redundant for everyone else. After I got the opportunity to try out one of them I quickly changed my opinion, and soon purchased one for myself.

There are countless combinations of Fleshjacks to choose from, for the purposes of this review I will be focussing on the Ice material, with the bottom opening, and the original internal texture. I also have reviews of the Vortex Texture, the Flight, and the Sword.
Starting with the packaging, Fleshjacks come in a nice metal tin, which can be kept and used as a place to store the item in. It helps to give the item a quality feeling, rather than just being presented inside a cardboard box.
Ice Jacks have a clear plastic case, and the insert inside is translucent, with an appearance similar to frosted glassware. The outside of the case has some raised bands for the purpose of adding grip when using the product. The base cap of the case can be loosened or tightened to adjust the level of suction inside the toy during use. Unfortunately as there’s no rubber seal around the cap, no matter how tightly you screw it down air will always leak in, and you won’t achieve a complete vacuum, but if you are looking for a strong sucking sensation then it still delivers. The material of the insert feels wonderfully soft to the touch, and can be squeezed and stretched with ease, to the point that you’ll be eager to start using it as soon as you’ve felt it. One of the unique selling points of the Ice Jack is that you can see yourself inside it during use. In order to get the maximum benefit from this you’ll need to first submerge the insert in water, as it becomes more transparent when wet. You won’t get a completely clear view of what’s going on, but there is enough detail visible for you to make out what you need to. I’ll admit that it was quite arousing to see a throbbing penis thrusting in and out of it, even if it was my own. There is something rather novel about this aspect, and once the novelty inevitably wears off you’ll find yourself paying less attention to what’s happening inside the Fleshjack, and paying more attention to the porn DVD you’re probably watching. While it’s a nice option to have, it’s probably not worth spending too much extra money on.
The bottom variant has as anal opening which is quite realistic in appearance. Around the small central hole the area is textured, to mimic the puckering of a real anus when closed. You really get the effect of it if you slowly run a finger around it in circles. The bottom opening is the tightest, but it only lasts for the depth of about a centimetre before opening onto the inner texture. As it’s quite a narrow opening the most efficient way to apply lube to the inside of the insert is with a pump bottle or lubricant syringe. The best way to enjoy the tightness of the butt opening is to just pop the head of the penis in and out of it, as you really do feel it then, and along with the slight resistance it provides it helps to imitate real anal sex. Because the material is so stretchy, once you’ve fully inserted yourself and are enjoying the Fleshjack, you won’t really notice any extra tightness from the opening around the base of the shaft.

The original texture has a completely smooth central canal with a uniform diameter of 17mm or 5/8″ throughout the length. When using the product it stretches to provide a nice snug grip on the penis, but without excessive tightness. I really enjoyed the feeling of it and found it to be more than sufficient, but people who tend to squeeze their penis quite firmly when masturbating might be wise to go for a narrower texture. The smooth interior feels very satisfying, but after using it a number of times I did start to get a little bored of it, and wished that there were some lumps and bumps to add intriguing points of excitement and extra stimulation along the way. Because the inside is smooth it means a smaller surface area, which in turn means you won’t need so much lube to cover it all. What lube you use is going to be a big factor in how much you enjoy it; you want to use water-based only, to protect the material, and something long lasting, to avoid the need to apply more just as you’re about to climax, or worse, thrusting when its dried up, causing both chafing to yourself and fissures inside the sleeve. The experience is supposed to feel more realistic if you first heat up the insert to body temperature. The microwave is not suitable for this, and so it is recommended that you try submerging it in hot water. In my experience the insert did not absorb much heat from the water and it wasn’t worth the bother.

With proper care, the Fleshjack is manufactured to be very durable. Unlike other cheap masturbators which split and degrade over time, my Fleshjack has remained in virtually the same condition it was on the day I bought it.
The one thing that puts me off using my Fleshjack as much as I might otherwise like to is the maintenance, because frankly it’s a bit of a hassle. Once you’ve finished enjoying your Fleshjack you’re going to want to clean it, to remove the sticky amalgam of lube and bodily fluids that is clinging to the inner walls of the insert. To make matters easier the ends of the case can both be removed and the insert slid free, allowing each part to be washed separately. When washing the insert it’s important to not use any form of soap, as the ingredients in it can be harmful to the material and will shorten its lifespan. You want to either submerge the insert in a basin of warm water, and then use a finger to agitate the internal channel until you can no longer feel any residue, or place one opening beneath a fast running tap and allow it to rinse through for a few minutes. Once you’re certain the insert is clean, shake off the excess water and leave it somewhere to air dry. You don’t want to use a towel as particles will stick to the surface of the insert. When you have allowed the insert to fully dry you’ll notice that the surface of material has become incredibly sticky – the Ice material does this much more so than the standard – and could lead to an “oh God, I’ve ruined it” moment, but rest assured this is perfectly normal. Now you can store the insert like this, but the tacky surface makes it quite difficult to slide back into the case, and just generally isn’t that nice. To restore the material to its original condition you need to coat the whole surface with a thin layer of corn flour. Needless to say this is time consuming and can make quite a mess, leaving more white powder in your bathroom than Whitney Houston’s. With that completed your Fleshjack will be good as new and you can put it away ready for next time, so it’s certainly worth doing, but it is a lot of effort to go to, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself thinking twice next time you go to use it, and settling on some lube and a tissue instead.
I would definitely recommend a Fleshjack to anyone looking for a good quality masturbator. In my opinion they can be a little overpriced, however, so if you can find one on sale for £35-£45 then snap it up without hesitation!

Doc Johnson Classic Butt Plug

I was looking for a large butt plug to help train myself to accept another toy, and that wouldn’t break the bank, and this cheap and cheerful item from Doc Johnson did just the trick.
If you’re looking for a higher quality version then check out my review of the Super Big End.

There’s not too much one can say about this butt plug, other than that it’s quite straight forward and it gets the job done.
The plug itself is constructed in two layers; there’s a thin outer shell made of a rather tough vinyl-like material, and this in turn is filled with a flexible rubber centre. The combination produces a firm solidly built product, leaving the only mould line hidden below the base. It’s not as soft as a silicone plug, but I still found it comfortable to insert.

The plug is quite long at 5.75″ – with 5″ of that being insertable – which gives it a very gentle gradient from the tip to the widest part of the bulb, which is 2.3″. With plenty of lubricant it’s possible to insert the the plug quite gradually, steadily increasing how much you can fit as the muscles adapt with each use, meaning it’s suitable for those with only a fairly moderate level of experience, as well as the more advanced user.

At the bottom of the plug is a good sized neck, meaning that once you’ve inserted the plug fully there’s space for the muscles to close down behind it and hold it securely in place for prolonged wearing. Attached to this is a wide flared base which prevents the possibility of the toy becoming lost inside you, and which also doubles as a solid handle for pulling the plug out again once you’re finished. Removing the plug shouldn’t be an issue, due to the gently rounded underside of the bulb, which encourages the muscles to dilate when need be.
The plug does come with a noticeable odour; it’s not unpleasant, but did eventually perfume my entire toy drawer with its fruity fragrance.
For the price this is an excellent product, and a good way to embark on butt plug exploration, or even to replace an older tired model you have lying around.
The Classic Butt Plug is available in the UK from SexToys.co.ukLovehoney, and ThatPosition.

Double Bubble Gum Drops

Originally I bought this butt plug from the Doc Johnson ‘Gum Drops’ range because not only did I think it looked attractive, but because I made the mistake of thinking that due to the shape it would be a useful tool for anal training and working up to the larger section. It ended up taking a while and the purchase of an additional toy before I could finally fit it in completely, but generally I have been pleased.

The first thing to say about this plug is that it’s only really suitable for someone who can already accommodate its full size. I point this out early on because the shape can be quite deceptive. You’d be forgiven for looking at it and assuming that with the smaller and larger areas, it would be ideal for gradually training your muscles up to accepting the whole thing, but you’d be mistaken. Due to the unique shape, and the length of the plug, the result is two sections both with quite a steep gradient compared to a traditional plug. This makes the plug more difficult to insert if you’re not used to it; once you get over the first ‘bubble’ the muscles close back down around it and then have to start expanding again from scratch in order to take the larger section. By this point you’ve lost a portion of the overall length, and so the muscles have to expand a greater amount over a shorter distance, and you’re liable to find they simply won’t comply, even if you keep pushing until you’re blue in the face. So, if you haven’t taken this size before then start with a more traditional shape, as the gentle taper will ease its way through the muscles more gradually and you’ll make better progress.
With that out of the way we can look into the specifications:
Aesthetically it’s a very attractive toy to look at, thanks to the combination of the unusual shape and the translucent ruby-red colour. You might find yourself tempted to put it out on a shelf for decoration, if you’re not worried about the suspicious glances of any visitors.
The plug is made of PVC, which I found to be quite a hard material to the touch, especially when compared to something such as silicone. As a result of this I didn’t find it to be an especially comfortable toy to insert, but you may disagree if you typically enjoy glass and metal toys. The build quality is generally good and free from mould lines, but is let down in some areas; it’s noticeably asymmetrical, there are half a dozen visible air bubbles within the plastic, and there’s the odd lump and bump along the otherwise smooth contours of the surface, none of which really amount to a deal breaker.
The plug noticeably has two main sections, the first “bubble” with a diameter of 1.6″, and the second with 2.25″. There is a lack of any neck on the toy near to the base, with 4.25″ being insertable, of the total 4.6″ height. This means that once the plug is inside, there isn’t really any space for the muscles to close down behind it, and hold it in place. If you want to leave it in then you can’t just relax and forget about it, but rather must actively clench to hold it there. The flip side is that it’s incredibly easy to take out when you’re ready. To finish it off there’s a flexible 3″ x 1.2″ base to prevent any mishaps, this is a little flimsy and bends and twists a lot when you’re grabbing it, and could do with being a little thicker to increase its strength.
The toy is not completely odour free. The smell it has is not overly strong or unpleasant, but it is present.
Over all the toy is pretty fun, with the shape adding a little something extra over the traditional butt plug form, and it represents good value for money.

Rocks Off Ass-Berries Blackberry

When I first caught site of the Blackberry I found its whole appearance to be irresistible, and I immediately knew that I had to have one. What could be cuter than a vibrating butt plug fashioned after a wild fruit?

Read the review after the jump!

When the product arrived I was very impressed by the overall appearance. The Blackberry came packaged inside a sturdy black cardboard box, with a clear plastic viewing window at the front. Inside the box the item is clipped securely into a plastic tray adorned with the company logo, which makes it the perfect place to store your toy when not in use, safely away from unwanted dust.
The plug itself is very attractive, closely mimicking the shape of a wild blackberry, with lots of nodules across the surface providing points of interest. There is one discreet mould line running around the length, but this is largely disguised by all the detailing.
The material used in the manufacturing is a type of silicone used in all Rocks Off products, which is completely odourless. I found this blend of silicone to be noticeably firmer than the silicone used in products by Tantus and Doc Johnson.
The plug is quite short, and also quite blunt, meaning you may wish to first loosen yourself up with something else prior to inserting it, if you’re not someone who regularly uses anal toys. I found that because of the blunt shape and the firm silicone, it wasn’t the most comfortable toy to insert, even when well lubed. Once inside, however, the compact shape made it made it quite pleasant to wear. Beneath the bulbous berry part of the plug is a rather short neck, the result of which is that a significant portion of the base seems to be pulled into the body when the muscles tighten down onto it. The base itself is one area where there may be a possible design flaw; it’s not very big at all, both in length and in that the diameter is only marginally less than the widest point on the berry part. This presents the real risk that if you’re not careful you could push too hard and lose the whole thing inside you. There also isn’t very much to grab onto when you’re trying to take it out after you’ve had enough.
The vibration is powered by the RO-80mm bullet, which can be removed and used separately if desired. The bullet is held in place very snuggly and can be difficult to extract without a lot of twisting, tugging, and wiggling, as the tight fit forms a vacuum inside. The entire toy is waterproof, so removing the bullet during routine washing isn’t a necessity. The vibrations produce a pleasant tingly feeling inside, but don’t travel too far due to the shape of the toy. I would have preferred a stronger sensation, as it feels as though a fair amount of the vibrations from the bullet are absorbed and dampened by the thick silicone body of the plug. Whilst wearing the plug I found the bullet a little difficult to operate, mainly because of how firmly the button needed to be pressed to switch it on and off. Unfortunately part of the bullet does protrude from the base of the plug, meaning you can’t sit down whilst wearing it, and the bullet does produce a level of noise which could be heard in a quiet room, in case you were considering wearing it in public.
Over all it’s a good product, especially to look at, but you get the impression that aesthetic considerations came before practical ones in some areas, which does let the toy down somewhat. For the amount of money it costs it’s a pretty nice item to have in your collection.

Rocks Off Bad Boy

Having tried dildos and butt plugs before, vibrating prostate massage seemed like the next logical step. Rocks Off do a whole range of these toys, including the Naughty Boy, Rude Boy, Cheeky Boy, Bad Boy, Big Boy and Butt Boy. I decided to go for the Bad Boy, because the bumps looked intriguing, and I chose it in red because it’s my favourite colour. These products tend to divide opinions quite strongly, between those who can fit the hooked shape, and those who find it utterly impractical.

When the product arrived I was very impressed by the overall appearance. The Bad Boy came packaged inside a sturdy black cardboard box, with a clear plastic viewing window at the front. Inside the box the item is clipped securely into a plastic tray adorned with the manufacturer’s logo, which makes it the perfect place to store your toy when not in use, safely away from unwanted dust.
Aesthetically it’s quite an attractive piece; I bought mine in a stunning scarlet shade. The product has more or less a horseshoe shape, with lots of bulges along the length of the insertable portion – which averages 1.5″ in diameter – and some nodules near to the bullet, designed to stimulate the perineum. There is a visible mould line running around the length of the toy, but it feels quite smooth.
The material used in the manufacturing is a type of silicone used in all Rocks Off products, which is completely odourless. I found this blend of silicone to be noticeably firmer than the silicone used in products by Tantus and Doc Johnson. The surface is very slightly rough, so you may wish to use a little extra lube, and the material didn’t offer a great deal of flexibility whilst using the toy.
The size of the tip makes insertion an ease at the beginning, but I soon found the hook shape of it to be a hindrance, and despite numerous attempts I was never able to insert it fully so that the final resting position resembled the diagram on the box. The tip of it seemed to have gone as far as there was physically room, and further pressure to insert the remainder only caused internal discomfort. The problem would seem to be that everyone’s anatomy varies to an extent, but toys like this must follow a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I would advise trying to manually locate the prostate using a digit before buying this toy; if you struggle to reach it then you probably have a deeper prostate and would benefit from the shape of the product, but if you can reach it easily then your prostate is probably in a more shallow position, and you might also have difficulty fitting the Bad Boy, and would benefit from something more conventionally shaped. The result of not being able to insert it fully was that it generally felt uncomfortable to wear. As half of it was hanging out it failed to stay in place very well and I was unable to sit on it to attempt generate stimulation from a rocking motion. The area of the toy designed to stimulate the perineum did not sit flush with that part of the body, and barely came into contact with it at all, meaning I did not benefit from this aspect of the design at all.
The vibration is powered by the RO-80 bullet, which can be removed and used separately if desired. The bullet is held in place very snuggly and can be difficult to extract without a lot of twisting, tugging, and wiggling, as the tight fit forms a vacuum inside. The entire toy is waterproof, so removing the bullet during routine washing isn’t a necessity. The vibrations did seem to travel the length of the toy, to the point that I felt a tingling inside, but none of which seemed to cause any pleasurable sensations in the prostate, even after prolonged usage. The part of the toy which vibrates the most strongly is the part which remains outside the body, as that’s where the bullet is located. By the time the vibrations travel from the source, through the length of the toy, and into the body they seem to weaken to a fair degree, being absorbed and dampened along the way. For this reason I feel a fully integrated vibrating function would have been better served than a removable bullet. The functions of the bullet are limited, with the only options being off, or on and vibrating constantly at one speed. There are no speeds or patterns of pulsations to choose from, which is disappointing. The bullet is generally quite easy to operate whilst inside the toy, as the shape puts the button in an accessible position, and the bullet is quiet enough that no one will hear it in the next room.
Overall it’s an attractive product, but the shape isn’t going to work for everyone. If you’ve never used a prostate massager before, then try a more traditional design first to see if that hits the spot. If you think you can accommodate the hooked shape then this might be the product you’re looking for.
